Amodu: Sudan Are Scared Of Nigeria

–Sudan based Nigeria star reveals hosts’ discomfort over Eagles

Former Al-Hilal of Sudan left-back, Amodu Usman, says the Super Eagles strike fear into the mind of their Sudanese counterparts.

Amodu spent two years at Al-Hilal and he said his interactions with his former teammates ahead of this weekend game clearly shows how scared they are of Nigeria.

“I had a banter with some of my former teammates who are in the National team of Sudan and one thing is certain the mere mention of Super Eagles scares them,as a matter of fact they are heavily scared.” he told SL10.ng

The left full back who last turned out for Llaneros of Colombia said the 4-0 thrashing the Super Eagles handed to their Sudanese counterparts in 2002 right in front of their fans forms the primary factor of their fears.

“It might have been twelve years ago but the victory the Super Eagles secured against Sudan heightened their fears and respect for Nigeria, they are a much better team than twelve years ago but the fear remains.”

However, the former Under-17, 20 and 23 defender adviced the Super Eagles not to be complacent as football can be funny at times.

“We don’t have to underrate them they might be scared of Nigeria but everybody wants to beat the African Champion and that is enough motivation, so we have to treat them with respect more so we didn’t have a very good start to the qualifiers.”
