Onetime Secretary-General of the Nigerian FA, Fanny Amun, believes that the Super Eagles can beat Argentina in their final Group D match of the ongoing 2018 FIFA World Cup at the Krestovsky Stadium, St Petersburg on Tuesday, June 26, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Amu is bullish after the Super Eagles stepped up their showing to beat Iceland 2-0 in their second group game against Iceland in Volgograd on Friday. They lost to Croatia with same margin inn their first game in Kaliningrad on June 16. And Amun believes that the Gernot Rohr’s team can advance to the next round with a good result against Argentina.
“Argentina is beatable. What we need do is to play with confidence and the right game plan,” Amun told journalists in Volgograd.
“We have very young players that can still feature in another two or three World Cups. So for me, I want them to enjoy themselves in Russia, see how far they can go and we continue to consolidate,” Amun said.
Amun, Nigeria’s 1993 FIFA U-17 World Cup winning coach, also commends the Amaju Pinnick-led NFF board for ensuring that that Super Eagles enjoy an excellent camp atmosphere in Russia.
He remarke: “We are here (Russia) and things are running as if the country’s football is on auto pilot. Nothing negative is coming out of Super Eagles’ camp. I think Amaju and his team deserve commendation.”
