Amuneke: Happy Rohr Invited Physically Built Players With Experience, Pace For Cameroon Match

By Johnny Edward:

Onetime Barcelona winger, Emmanuel Amuneke, is confident that the  inclusion of some physically built experienced players with pace to the Super Eagles squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon next month is capable of exploiting the weaknesses of the reigning African champions and earned the needed results, Completesportsnigeria.com reports

The Super Eagles must beat Cameroon in one of the two ties to strengthen their chances of qualifying for the Mundial in Russia.

Amuneke, a 1994 World Cup star believes Nigeria stand a great chance of recording a third win in Group B with the Gernot Rohr’s balanced squad list released on Tuesday.

Rohr recalled the quartet of Victor Moses, John Mikel Obi, Leon Balogun and Odion Ighalo for the clash and also handed Hapoel Beer Sheva burly forward Anthony Nwakaeme to the attack.

He also kept faith with the defence line that lost 2-0 to South Africa.

“It’s difficult to fault this list because the players invited are the best we have playing topflight football at the moment,” Amuneke told Completesportsnigeria.com.

“The coach has listed a lot of physical players with experience and pace in this side, so we should win if we keep to our gameplan.”

“The team is well balanced, and they have that capability to outplay the African champions.”

“We saw Cameroon at the FIFA Confederations Cup, I think these players invited, mwith a great gameplan, can exploit the lapses noticed in the Cameroon team.”

Nigeria lead Group B on six points after two games, and are followed closely by Cameroon who have two points from the same number of games. Zambia and Algeria occupy third and fourth place respectively with one point apiece.

  • Akpieyi Daniel should not be in post please.

  • I will not bother to watch the match/matches if Akpieyi Daniel is selected as first choice goalkeeper. His composure in goal post is too soft not commanding and terrifying to the attackers. He was just lucky against Algeria last year.

@Adesomoju:Well said, I also don’t believe in him, we can only pray the super eagles have a good outing against Cameroun.
