Newly appointed Al Khartoum Watani manager, Emmanuel Amuneke, will assume his duty at the club for the forthcoming season on 5 of January, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Former Nigeria forward Amuneke who signed a two-year deal at the club last November will attend the Aiteo CAF Awards on January 4 before joining up with his team for pre-season, he revealed.
The former Barcelona winger replaced Kwesi Appiah who took over the reins as Ghana’s head coach for the third time.
“I will resume on duty on Friday (Jan 5),” Amuneke, who coached the Golden Eaglets to the FIFA U-17 World Cup title in 2015, told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“It’s a challenge for me and I believe my wealth of experience as a player and a coach will help the team.
“The target is an herculean one but we will try as much as we can to break the dominance of Al Merreikh and Al Hilal, who between them have won every league title since 1970 except in 1992.
The Sudanese League is expected to kick off in March.
