–Says Maracana Stadium will host final talents hunt
Golden Eaglets head coach, Emmanuel Amuneke has revealed that the final phase of his nationwide talent hunt for fresh intakes into the National U-17 team will hold at the famous “Maracana’ Stadium in Lagos.
The National U-17 team finished fourth at the concluded African U-17 Championship in Niamey, Niger Republic which qualified them as one of the continent’s four representatives in this year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile later this year.
Amuneke says he is looking out for good players he could integrate into the World Cup bound Eaglets to give the squad a new breath of life.
“It’s all about continuity, we want to see if we can get a few players who can add something to the squad”, starts the former Barcelona of Spain winger.
“That’s why we are going round the country looking for the right talents.
“We won’t stop giving youth the opportunity to show what they have.
“We have visited places like Ibadan, we have been to Asaba, Agbor, Warri and right now I’m in Owerri.
“After that, I’ll be in Lagos where I will conduct the last of this talent hunt and that will hold at Ajegule, precisely at the famous Maracana Stadium.
“After that, I’ll proceed on a short break to Spain to see my family”, the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner with Super Eagles said.
