By Adeboye Amosu:

Saimon Msuva and Mbwana Samatha were on target as the Taifa Stars picked their first win in the qualifying series at the National Stadium Dar Es Salaam.

It was a sweet revenge for the East Africans who fell to a 3-0 defeat to Cape Verde in the first leg in Praia.

Uganda top Group L with 10 points, Tanzania are second with five points, Cape Verde sit in third position with four points, while Lesotho are bottom with two points.

“It was frustrating losing in Cape Verde, so we had to talk and bolster our morale ahead of the game. We had to see the possibility of winning and it was not easy,” Amuneke told reporters after the game.

“We have a good team, but what we needed is to push through our abilities. We managed it at home, we created chances and scored.

“We will fight to see the chance to win the last two games so that we can qualify.”

Tanzania’s next 2019 AFCON qualifying game is against Lesotho on November 18 in Maseru before rounding off their campaign with a home fixture against the Cranes of Uganda on March 22nd, 2019.

We are proud of you sir.

I patiently wait for the day when your experience and pedigree will no longer be in doubt and the NFF will come asking for your service with the Super Eagles.

See you and the Tanzanian team at the Nations Cup next year.

Wish you best of luck in your adventure coach. I pray we see you and your team @ next year’s afcon.
I just like the fact that this guy isnt depending of NFF to get a job, unlike ‘some coaches’ who will not get jobs unless nff needs a caretaker coach….even npfl teams they wouldnt coach. Amunike has been one very hardworking guy since when he returned home from europe…coached julius berger, first bank, assitant to Manu garba in the U17s, before being meritoriously handed the head coach job, had a misadventure with the U20s, went to Al-khartoum in Sudan and now the Tanzanian national team. You can see the career progression. Some people just wanna come from nowhere and be given the national team job straight up.

Agreed with you Dr. The reason why Steve Kechi was very successful was his experience with Togo when he qualified them for the World Cup the first time in their history. Rohr is getting old now, He can not be with us for ever. A time will come when Amuneke services may be needed back in Nigeria and he would then have had sufficient experiences to manage our National team with confidence.

How I wish l can say this about Siasia though.

  • Great luck coachee.
I pray you win in Lesotho and cape verde loses in Uganda.
Then you would have qualified before your last game.
    Good luck.

Thats a very strong possibility bro. Uganda looks good wen playing at home. In their 2018 WC qualifiers, they beat heavyweights like Ghana and Egypt at home and even picked a point in accra or so. In his qualifiers, they have 10pts from 12. I tip them to beat CPV. Amunike and his charges have all to play for against lesotho. A win for them and a loss for CPV and they will have an unassailable 4 pt lead whc will see them land in cameroon

  • The odds favour Amuneke and his Tanzanian lads..he should get a win against the whipping boys Lesotho in Maseru and with Uganda likely to get the 3 points at home to Cape Verde..he might only need a draw at home to Uganda who should be home and dry before the clash and that settles it
