The football house on Wednesday, after its meeting in Abuja proclaimed that the 1994 FIFA World Cup hero will head the coaching crew of the U-20 team while Manu Garba will head the U-17 Golden Eaglets.
Amuneke who spoke to Completesportsnigeria.com from Spain shortly after the meeting in Abuja said he was not aware of any appointment and nobody has even called him, neither the FA nor any other official source to notify him about the new job.
Amuneke said: ‘’This is new to me, I am not aware officially, of being named the coach of the Flying Eagles, I am just hearing this and it is new to me. I think I should have been told if anything like that was going to happen."
Amuneke who led the Golden Eaglets to a gold winning outing in Chile last year is currently in Spain holidaying and also tapping from some available opportunity that will make him to be a better coach in the round leather game
“I am here for a purpose that will make me a better coach, and if at all I am going to be named the coach of the Flying Eagles, I think we should have discussed that earlier," Amuneke stated.
Meanwhile, following the recent treatment metted to Nigerian coaches, Nigeria Coaches Association is now making a move to ensure every coach appointed at either club level or national level must have a well written contract with the employer.
