Former Super Eagles left winger, Emmanuel Amuneke has revealed to Completesportsnigeria.com he will commence his accumulated UEFA Pro Coaching Licence refresher course next week in Spain.
“I’m just back in Spain and by next week, I’ll start my UEFA Pro License refresher course here at the Spanish Football Federation Institute,” Amuneke told Completesportsnigeria.com from his base in the European country.
“The rule here in Europe is that once you obtain your Pro Licence coaching badge, you are mandated to undergo refresher course every year.
“But mine has had to be delayed because of my involvement in the national team assignments, but now that the season is over, it is important for me to do it since it is a one-week program”.
Amuneke whose late strike handed the Nigeria U-23 Team the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games football event gold medal following a 3-2 win over Argentina in the final, also lauded the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), for organising the recently concluded CAF/NFF B Licence Seminar in Abuja.
“Knowledge is power. It was a wonderful experience. I must commend the NFF for that because it was so rewarding.
“It was a veritable opportunity for us to learn more and also update our knowledge of the game and the coaching job,” Amuneke who led the U-17 Golden Eaglets to win the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile said.
The former FC Barcelona of Spain left-winger restated that the CAF/NFF B Licence Seminar instructors were people who have rich and sound knowledge of the game.
“When you have the likes of Chief Adegboye Onigbinde, a FIFA/CAF/NFF Instructor also among those conducting the seminar, you understand how unique and interesting it was,” Amuneke who will be given a chieftaincy title in his Eziobodo Community in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State on December 27 told Completesportsnigeria.com.
