Angola To Count On Manucho, Targets Win In Gabon

When Angola take to the field in Gabon for their 2015 Africa Nations Cup Qualifier tonite, they will once again turn to the experience of lanky striker Manucho.

Palancas Negras have not used Manucho since the Africa Nations Cup finals held in South Africa in early 2013, but for this important Group C qualifier in Libreville, the technical team have called for experience.

The Rayo Vallecano striker as well as Vunguidica and Geraldo have all returned to the side after head coach Romeu Filemon turned their way.

Angola’s form in recent games, if anything to go by, has been slightly better than hosts Gabon. In August they drew against Botswana and beat Ethiopia while drawing with Iran and beating Morocco during May.

Gabon meanwhile have not been in the best of form, losing home and away to Rwanda in July and managing a draw with Morocco in March and with Libya in January.

But tonight at Stade d’Angondjé n Libreville, Gabon will look to superstar striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to turn their fortunes around. The Borussia Dortmund man has improved during his time at the German giants and will spearhead the home team’s attack.

Aubameyang’s coach Jorge Costa said prior to the game that he has selected a group of players who he hopes will have fun and enjoy their football while defending the country’s colours.
