Nigerian striker Victor Anichebe scored a stunning goal as Sunderland got their first Premier League win of the season at Bournemouth on Saturday.
Also, Super Eagles forwar, Kelechi Iheanacho was handed a cameo appearance as Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw by Middlesbrough on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium.
Iheanacho took the place of Sergio Aguero in the 90th minute of the encounter.
Aguero put the home side ahead two minutes before the break.
They were however pegged back by a late Marten De Roon strike.
Iheanacho has now made 11 appearances in all competitions for the Citizens this season, scoring four goals.
At the Vitality Stadium, Victor Anichebe was on target as 10- man Sunderland picked their first win of the campaign following a 2-1 win against Bournemouth.
It was Anichebe's first goal of the season for the relegation battlers.
Dan Gosling had put the home side ahead in the second minute but the powerful striker levelled scores for David Moyes' men in the 34th minute.
The Nigerian held the ball up with his back to goal and smashed as unstoppable shot ball beyond Artur Boruc following an assist by Jermain Defoe.
Defoe scored the winning goal in the 74th minute.
Former Everton and West Brom player Anichebe has made six appearances in all competitions for Sunderland this season.
