Two-time World champions Argentina have released their 23-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia with Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi the biggest omission, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
La Albiceleste coach, Jorge Sampaoli, also axed Roma forward Diego Perrotti and and Everton centre-back Ramiro Funes Mori from the 35-man preliminary squad he released last week.
The star studded squad include Barcelona of Spain star Lionel Messi, Juventus duo Gonazlo Higuain and Paulo Dybala and China- based midfielder, Javier Mascherano.
Sampaoli also included the duo of Sergio Aguero and Lucas Biglia who have just returned from injury.
There is also place in the squad for West Ham United midfielder, Manuel Lazzini, centre-back, Nicolas Otamendi and PSG winger Angel Di Maria.
Argentina who are in the same group with Nigeria will begin their campaign in Russia on June 16 against debutants Iceland.
