Argentina head coach Jorge Sampaoli faces a major injury crisis with concern over the fitness of another key member of the team, Ever Banega.
West Ham star, Manuel Lanzini, has been ruled out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia after picking a knee injury in training on Friday.
The Albiceleste also lost first choice goalkeeper Sergio Romero who sustained injury in training during the early days of their preparations for the World Cup.
“Banega has an injury and missed two training sessions,” Argentina physical trainer Jorge Desio told TyC Sports.
Desio however allayed fears on the fitness of striker Sergio Aguero who missed the latter of the season with English club, Manchester City.
” Sergio Agüero is fine and never stopped training,” he added.
“The team is well physically, in the conditions we expected.”
Lionel Messi-led Argentina were beaten finalists in 2014 but would hope to go one better in what could be their golden generation’s last attempt at World Cup glory.
