Arsenal handed Aston Villa their 12th defeat of the season after goals from Oliver Giroud from the spot and Aaron Ramsey maintained Arsene Wenger’s winning streak at the Villa Park since 2003 on Sunday.
Remi Garde welcoming his mentor Wenger failed to inspire his side as Giroud scored for the fifth consective time this season from the penalty spot after Theo Walcot was hauled down by Alan Hutton after eight minutes.
The French man stepped up and hit a low drive to the right sending Brad Guzan the wrong way for Arsenal’s opener.
The lead was doubled when Ramsey finished off a swift counter attack he started when he won a challenge outside his own box after Ozil played him in for his 13th assist of the season.
The wins see Arsenal go top of the Barclays English Premier League with 33 points from 16 games while Aston Villa remain rock bottom with six points from the same number of games.
