Hosts Nigeria finished in third position at the 21st African Senior Athletics Championships after carting home three gold, one silver and one bronze medals on the final day of the competition in Asaba reports Completesportsnigeria. com.
Nigeria ended the competition with nine gold, five silver and five bronze medals.
Kenya emerged winner with 11 gold, six silver and two bronze medals, while South Africa came second with nine gold, 13 silver and eight bronze medals.
The quartet of Patience Okon-George, Abike Egbeniyi, Folashade Abugan and Yinka Ajayi came first in the Women’s 4×400m relay final with a time of 3:33.17s.
Kenya took silver with a time of 3:35.45s, while Zambia came third with a time of 3:38.18s.
Nathaniel Glory also won gold for Team Nigeria in the Women’s 400m Hurdles final with a time of 55: 53s.
Morocco’s Lamiae Lhabz and Wenda Nel of South Africa went home with silver and bronze respectively.
Grace Anigbata won Nigeria’s third gold medal of the day in Women’s Triple final.
Divine Oduduru came second in the Men’s 200m final, while Nigeria came third in the Men’s 4×400m relay final.
