Premier League giants Liverpool thrashed hosts Bayern Munich 3-0 in the second game of the 2017 Audi Cup at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany on Tuesday.
Two first half goals from Sadio Mane and new signing Mohamed Salah, and a sublime strike from substitute Daniel Sturridge in the second half secured the emphatic win for Liverpool.
This is the first time Bayern Munich will lose their first game in the Audi Cup after triumphing in their previous four games.
Liverpool will now meet Atletico Madrid in the final on Wednesday, while Bayern Munich and Napoli will square off in the third place match, also on Wednesday.
In the first game, 10-man Atletico came from a goal down to beat Napoli 2-1.
Liverpool went 1-0 up in the seventh minute through Sadio Mane who fired a left-foot strike past goalkeeper Sven Ulreich after Bayern Munich lost the ball in midfield.
In the 34th minute, Mohamed Salah made it 2-0 to Liverpool after heading into an empty net after Alberto Moreno’s initial cross deflected off Ulreich.
Liverpool thought they had extended their lead in the 72nd minute through Marko Grujic but his strike from the edge of Bayern’s box was ruled out for offside.
And in the 83rd minute, Sturridge made it 3-0 to Liverpool with an exquisite finish, chipping Bayern’s keeper after running on to a superb long pass.
