By James Agberebi: Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi was in action for 10-man Mouscron and provided an assist in their 4-2 away defeat to league leaders Club Brugge in a Belgian top flight game on Tuesday.
Awoniyi, who is on loan from Liverpool, started the game before he was replaced on 85 minutes and assisted Benjamin van Durman who put Mouscron 1-0 up on 35 minutes.
Anthony Limbombe equalised for Brugge in the 51st minute before
Mouscron were reduced to 10 men after Nathan De Medina was sent off on 59 minutes.
Brugge took advantage of the sending off and went 2-1 up thanks to Ruud Vormer who converted a 60th minute penalty.
Despite playing with 10 men, Mouscron fought back and drew level through Bruno Godeau in the 69th minute.
Abdoulaye Diaby restored Brugges’ lead in the 71st minute and put the game beyond Mouscron by netting his second goal of the game to secure a 4-2 win for Brugge.
Brugge remain top in the league table on 53 points, while Mouscron are seventh on 26 points.
