By James Agberebi: Nigeria’s 2016 Rio Olympic bronze medal winner Azubuike Okechukwu and his Yeni Malatyaspor side inflicted a debut day defeat on Brazil star Robinho following their 1-0 home win against Sivasspor in the Turkish top flight on Sunday.
Last Tuesday, Robinho completed his move to Sivasspor from Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro.
Okechukwu was on for 90 minutes, while his Nigerian teammate Sincere Seth was benched.
The only goal of the game was scored by Aytac Kara in the 78th minute from the penalty spot.
Former Real Madrid and Manchester City forward Robinho, 34, was brought on in the 74th minute.
The win was Malatyaspor’s first in two games (one draw) since the resumption of the second half of the Turkish first division.
Malatyaspor are now unbeaten in their last four league games (three wins and one draw).
They currently occupy the ninth spot on 26 points in the 18-club league table.
