By Adeboye Amosu: Former Super Eagles winger, Tijani Babangida believes that Russia 2018 is right stage for the team to end Argentina dominance over Nigeria at the FIFA World Cup, reports Completesportsnigeria. com.
The Super Eagles and the Albiceleste have met four times at the mundial with the South Americans winning on all four occasions.
Both countries have been drawn in the same Group D for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia along with Croatia and Iceland.
Gernot Rohr’s men recently beat Argentina 4-2 in an international friendly match in Krasnodar.
Babangida who was a member of the Super Eagles team that played at the 1998 World Cup in France insists the current team have the quality and ability to beat the Argentines when they clash on June 26 at the Krestovsky Stadium, St Petersburg.
“It’s time to end Argentina dominance over Nigeria at the World Cup, and I believe we have a team that can do it now,” Babangida tells Completesportsnigeria.com.
“I believe so much in our players. They proved they are ready for the big stage with that win against Argentina in the friendly.
“If there is any time we can beat them in the World Cup, I believe it is now because we have the quality and ability to do it.”
