Babangida: Super Eagles Paid Dearly For Loss Of Concentration, They’ll Bounce Back

By Adeboye Amosu:

Former Super Eagles winger Tijani Babangida has backed the team to emerge stronger from their early exit from the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Completesportsnigeria.com reports

The Super Eagles were eliminated from the competition on Tuesday after going down to a 2-1 defeat against Argentina in their final Group D game at the Krestovsky Stadium, Saint Petersburg.

They were four minutes away from eliminating the Albiceleste before Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo netted the winning goal.

And Babangida, who represented Nigeria at the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France, stated that team have picked vital  lessons from the competition which will help them in future.

“It’s a shame that we didn’t make beyond the group stage. The boys gave their best but it was just not enough,” Babangida told CSN.

“They lost concentration at a crucial part of the game which you don’t do in football or else you pay dearly for it.

“It is not the end of the world for us. They still have a lot of competitions to play in future and the lesson gained here will be crucial for them.”
