Babangida Urges NFF To Make Decision On Keshi Contract

–Ex-international says delay not good for Nigerian football

Former Super Eagles winger, Tijani Babangida has charged the Nigeria Football Federation to give Stephen Keshi a new contract or announce his replacement immediately.

The Super Eagles have been without a coach since last November and without a substantive coach since last July, as propositions to offer a new contract to Keshi drags on.

But Babangida feels such isn’t healthy for Nigerian football, arguing that there has to be a coach in place to monitor the Nigerian players ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

“I think they should give Keshi a new contract or appoint another coach to replace him,” he said to sl10.ng.

“This delay is not good for our football because we should have a coach who is monitoring our players so as to know the best ones to invite for the next Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

“I don’t know why they are delaying really. If they don’t want Keshi again, they should come out and give us a new coach so we can move on. It isn’t good that we have stayed this long without a coach,” he stressed.

The Super Eagles play Bolivia next month in an international friendly in Uyo, but the NFF is yet to announce who will take charge of the team for the game.
