–Eagles star gets standing ovation on return
By Johnny Edward:
Super Eagles winger Michael Babatunde said he was delighted with his return to competitive action after a three months layoff following his team’s 3-0 victory over Metalurh Zaporizhya at the Avanhard stadium on Sunday.
Babatunde told Complete Sports that he is hoping to shine after he replaced Redvan Memeshevin in the 64th minute to provide an assist in an effort that earned his side the third goal.
“Obviously, I’m delighted to be part of the team and the squad and to be involved again.” he exclusively told Complete Sports.
“My teammates have done great in my absence to put us in the position we are in now and hopefully, I’ll get a chance to play and try to shine and help the team get through the season.”
The Super Eagles star who missed Nigeria’s opening two matches in the 2015 AFCON Group A qualifiers hopes to get a recall to the team for next month’s double header against Sudan.
“I’m improving on my fitness and I hope to get back fully before next month,” he concluded.
