Super Eagles star, Michael Babtunde of Volyn may have joined Victor Moses on the injury list, as he may likely miss the team’s crucial 2015 Africa Cup of Nations double header against Sudan on October 11th and 15th.
Babatunde, who was earlier snubbed for the Super Eagles’ two opening qualifying games, may remain absent for the important two-legged games against the Falcons of Jediane due to injury.
Babatunde was handed a recall with the African champions needing to win the home and away fixtures at the Khartoum Stadium, Khartoum on Saturday and the National Stadium, Abuja on Wednesday respectively to stand a chance of qualifying for the tournament.
Babatunde, who just recovered from a fractured wrist by a shot which came off teammate Ogenyi Onazi’s foot against Argentina at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil , is feared injured after not being listed when Volyn played a 2-2 home draw against Vorskla on Friday, October 3.
The 21-year-old, was aided out of the pitch due to injury in the Crusaders’ earlier fixture against Dnipro and was substituted with just 23 minutes into the Ukraine Premier League Week 7 encounter on September 27.
Nigeria has picked only a point from two games in group A and will need maximum points against pointless Sudan in the next two games to get its qualification back on track.
Congo tops the table with six points from two games, while South Africa is second with four points in two matches.
