Super Eagles midfielder, Michael Babatunde says Volyn can be pleased with the point earned against Shakhtar Donestk on Monday following their previous results in the league.
Volyn has failed to win a game in their last five games, losing three and drawing twice but the Nigerian international admits the reigning champions’ experience saw them through in the encounter.
“It’s definitely a point gained,” Babatunde told Complete Sports. “We had the better of the game in the first half but Shakhtar were better in the second half. A draw was probably a fair result.”
He however rued his team’s missed chances in the encounter.
“I still regret that I did not take those chances. In the first stance I did not have enough speed to latch on to the ball and in the second half-my shot wasn’t accurate enough but that is football.
“It can make a person happy, but at the same time does not give a complete happiness.”
“It was a great match against a great team. Shakhtar is always strong and a powerful side.
I am very happy that we took away their threats.
“Although, I would have been more happy if we took the chances that we created”, confessed the Nigerian.
“We are always easier to play, even with a very strong contender when the audience support and a lot of them. Our fans – are just great. If you support the stadium, it gives strength even at the end of the game with such a strong opponent,” Babatunde concluded.
