Babatunde: We Gave Our Best In Brazil

Volyn FC winger, Michael Babatunde has revealed that the Super Eagles made a good impression at the on-going World Cup in Brazil though it was hard to come to terms with their exit at the Mundial.

Babatunde who had a successful surgery on his fractured right wrist but will need at least one month to recover fully told Complete Sports it was a great achievement for the team equaling the best finish of a second round berth.

“It was hard to come to terms with the fact that we lost to France but that’s football. The doctors told me not to train for the next one month while on holiday but I’m getting better.”

He also revealed that he told Argentine skipper, Lionel Messi that he was his idol before their final group game against the Albiceleste.

“I told him I was his big fan and he replied with a smile as he could not reply in English, we hugged and promised to exchange jersey but for the injury I would have gotten it,”

It would be recalled that in last season’s Ukrainian Premier League, Babatunde featured in 23 of Volyn’s league matches and scored two goals providing two assists.

The former Kryvbass winger also thanked the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF for their support when he was injured.
“I want to thank the NFF for their support; they were very supportive and helpful to me even if it was sad watching helplessly against France.
