Atlanta 1996 Olympic gold medallist, Emmanuel Babayaro, has said he and his former internationals will stand behind Samson Siasia in his task of building a new Olympic team for Nigeria.
Babayaro further stated that the former Super Eagles handler has the technical savvy to do the job hence his conviction that the former Flying Eagles coach has what it takes to deliver.
“There is no doubt that Siasia is a right choice for the job, he has been there before and all of us saw it that he did well as well as in U-20 level”, starts Babayaro.
“Technically, he is sound to raise a good U-23 team for Nigeria. He’s good enough technically to fashion out a match winning strategy and he has our full support to do this.”
Babayaro, a former U-23 goalkeeper expressed confidence in the quality of players in the country at the disposal of the U-23 gaffer.
“Nigeria is blessed with talented players that can eliminate Gabon in the CAF U-23 Championship in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
”We have more than enough players to execute the match against Gabon. It’s just about careful planning and selection without bias and in terms of qualities, I believe Siasia has it”, he stressed.
