Bafana Captain, Hlatshwayo: We’ll Be Ready To Face Different Nigeria

Bafana Bafana captain, Thulani Hlatshwayo, says the team will be prepared for their top-of-the-table clash against the Super Eagles next month in a matchday-five fixture of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers scheduled for the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The South African side were held to a goalless draw by Seychelles in Victoria last Tuesday, three days after they trounced the same team 6-0 in Johannesburg.

The result in Victoria has put Bafana in a dicey position in their quest to qualify for the AFCON finals in Cameroon next year with two potentially difficult matches against bitter rivals Nigeria at home and an away game against Libya.

Hlatshwayo, however, says the Bafana will play better against Nigeria who now top the Group E table with nine points. South Africa are second on eight points.

“Things didn’t go our way in Victoria‚ we did not finish the chances that we created, but we have to move on from this,” Hlatshwayo told South African Times.

“The weather was not too hot‚ it was a bit cooler but we were not able to play our free flowing football.

“Defensively, we did well. It is good that we did not concede and we know how the group looks like because Nigeria won on Tuesday.

“They are top of the group and we are playing them in the next match.

“It is going to be a different Nigeria compared to the one that we played away.

“So‚ we are aware of the challenge that is upon us and we have to do it ourselves as a team against them.

“Against Seychelles at FNB Stadium‚ we did well by scoring many goals, but unfortunately, we did not score playing away.

“Nigeria is a different team and we are looking forward to that challenge.”

“We saw how they played in their last match and probably the coach will have a different plan because we used a different plan against Seychelles away from home.”

  • And Rohr and the SE will be sooo prepared for you come November 16. You should call back Rnatie Thokelo and anyone else to beef up your team. To Nigeria, it’s more than a qualification match or the 3 points. It’s about setting the record books straight.

Anytime from the first/second week of November, I will register for the comment section in kickoff.com and soccerdaluma.com. It’s going to be fire for fire, pepper for pepper. These SA call us “druglords” in those comments. I won’t be returning the insult, but I will be dishing out the hardest, bitterest truth for them to read. The psychological war will begin from there!

Good one Kel. They are still celebrating that 2-0 win in kick-off.com and Supersport programes on tv.

I hope the Super Eagles will be in the killer mood when we meet them next month.

    • Kel… I’m with you. I can’t wait to join you in dishing out the truth to the South Africans. I know they can not handle the truth. They call us Drug-lords and forgetting if there are no Mobs who are the drug consumers, there won’t be the sellers. I can’t wait to give it to them ‘big time.

Sir kel, surely I gonna join u there. Tgrace support support ur view. I was screwed wen they went away with the three point without the likes of Mikel, victor M, hot Ighalo, Uzoho, even Balogun was absent and “Apere”(Akpeyi) was Manning the post to give them the sweet victory. But now they will pay for it in the front of their fan. Sir, Kel Tgrace support you

South Africans start oooooooooooo. Nigeria vs south Africa head to head Naija won 7, draw 4 and lose 2. Don’t worry super eagles are coming Nov. 17. Don’t be too worry, you will know your fate that day. Is you fighting for slot, pressure on you captain. God bless Nigerians !!!!!!!!!!.

  • @Fasasi kunle, no 9ja vs s africa head to head results are. 9ja has won 15 times and draw 2 times and lose 2times to bafana bafana.

In all honesty I really think we should now be taking South Africa very seriously. They will be highly motivated because they know a good result against the SuperEagles will see them through to the AFCON. However, from all indications SuperEagles players already have revenge on their minds. It will be a cracker to behold as Rohr is preparing his team to play good football against the Bafana Bafana. A draw is enough for the SuperEagles as that will take us straight to the AFCON irrespective of the remaining results. South Africa sure needs to win as I’m not sure they can beat Libya away. However, SuperEagles never lost any qualifier home and way. That is why the pressure will be on South Africa.

I think the South African Captain was trying to prepare his team for what is coming their way. Realistically, Nigeria have not lost any match to any African team since then. Nigeria have gone to World Cup, South African could not, since then, Nigeria beat Libya both Home and Away, South Africa could not. Now that we are to meet them at home, they are having the feelings of easy picking and trashing Nigeria again. It is a natural feeling and their rights to feel so. But, will South Africa beat Nigeria next time ? We shall see. I believe that South Africa may not even be in Cameroon next year.

  • Nigeria lost 0:2 to South Africa in 2017 and my boys want revenge. However, which of the players who featured on that day would be able to actually avenge that loss?

Akpeyi: highly unlikely to man the post. That match against South Africa cost him his place in the team. He never recovered.

Shehu: Still on Rohr’s good books and can feature if fit.

Awaziem: I find it hard to overlook his fault for South Africa’s first goal. Likely to at least make the match day squad.

Ekong: Sure banker to start if fit.

Elderson: I think Jamilu Collins has taken his place. He is not expected to be in the squad.

Onazi: Could feature if he recovers from injury setback.

    Ndidi: Out due to suspension.

Etebo: expected to be in the squad and possibly start.

Simon: Sure to be in the squad if fully fit and may start.

Iwobi: Definitely in the team either as number 10 or as a winger.

Iheanacho: Sure to be in the squad, even maybe in the starting 11 but not expected to lead the line like he did on that fateful day in Uyo.

    Subs:

Musa: expected to start this time around.

Kayode: I will be surprised to see him in a Super Eagles jersey anytime soon.

Osimhen: Not expected to be invited this time around.

This is very interesting. Pressure will be on South Africa for sure. Majority of the South Africans are scared of Nigeria team now.

They know that the current team is quite different to the one they played against last year and they are improving game by game.

The only thing Bafana Bafana team know how to do best is speed. Coach Rohr failed to notice this when we played against them last year.

This match is more than 3 points for us Nigerians. This match is more than Afcon qualifiers. I don’t think coach Rohr knows our football history between both countries? If yes, he should please make sure he selected the best squad for South Africa match.

I won’t be surprised to see Akpeyi on the pitch that day but that would be a big joke ooo.

Hammed Musa said it confidently that Eagles is going to South Africa to win. Having Musa said that, I am expecting coach Rohr to really getting his tactics right this time around against Bafana Bafana.

No late substitutions, no favouritism in the team and if Oga Rohr should do this, we are in the right position to beat South Africa in South Africa whitewash because we have no pressure on us but for them, they are already soacked in the pressure before the match.

The way it is now, its looks like Nigeria and Libya will qualify from the group and if that happens, South Africa would never forgive Nigeria lol. This is very interesting indeed.

Therefore, let’s go and get the job done in South Africa Eagles. If you can do this for me, I will let go of your world cup failure in my mind because it’s so hard to swallow that painful exit in my memory. No shaking, God is in control. Happy weekend my people in the house. God bless us all. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • It is possible for super eagles to defeat south Africa in the revenge battle. My concern is our defends mostly the left and right full back, Mr Rohr should pls take this match very serious. We need good defenders that will be able to stop the speed of south Africa. I wish super eagles good luck

  • beatin bafana at home is under probability. look at wat wil happen on dat day, bcuz of de revenge in our boyz mind, 9ja wil lead maybe like 2 goals down, and bafena wil use speed to soke our defenders to tired to de extent they all lose awereness in de defence most de full back, and rohr who should make change at 50 or 60 or even 70, wil leave till 80 minute wen bafana equall de score line and end de game 3 3 draw. for me rohr is not new to me. it wil be de intervene of GOD for our players not to faint in de pitch on dat day.

I am just too sure of something that Naija will defeat bafana-bafana right there on FBN. I am not at worry self because I know SA wont qualify. Look at their performance from the beginning. They only played on the laxity of Naija in the first leg and that was the only match they thought will make them qualify for Cameroun 2019. since the first match, they have drawn against Libya and Seychelles and only defeated hapless Seychelles at home. Nigeria will beat them 3-1 in FBN and Libya will defeat them in sifax 3-1. Therefore, from the next 6 points available for each team, Naija will get the maximum 6, Libya will get 6 and SA will get none
