Bale Sets Goals Record As Giggs Wins First Game As Wales Manager

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs got his managerial career as Wales head coach off to a winning start as he led them to a 6-0 thrashing of China in the 2018 China Cup on Thursday. A first-ever hat-trick for his country from Gareth Bale, a brace from Sam Vokes and a goal from Harry Wilson secured Giggs his first win as Wales coach after taking over from Chris Coleman.

Bale’s third goal against China makes him Wales’ all-time highest scorer with 29 goals.

His second goal in the game had seen him become joint-leading scorer with Liverpool great Ian Rush on 28 goals.

Bale was later replaced in the 63rd minute by Benjamin Woodburn.

Wales will now face either Czech Republic or Uruguay on Monday in their last game of the tournament.
