Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun is a major doubt for the side’s Saturday night Group D clash against Croatia due to an injury, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Balogun, CSN scooped from a camp source, failed to train with his teammates in their last session on Thursday morning at their Essentuki base before their departure to Kaliningrad for the game against the Croats.
CSN further gathered that the centre-back, who recently joined Premier League club Brighton, will undergo a scan to determine the severity of the injury as well as his availability for the game.
Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr will likely draft in Kenneth Omeruo as replacement for the former FSV Mainz defender in case he is ruled out of the game.
Balogun has struggled to stay fit recently and missed the latter part of the Bundesliga season with Mainz due to injury.
Winger Moses Simon has already been ruled out of the competition due to a hip injury.
The encounter against Croatia is billed for the Kaliningrad Stadium.
