By Bamidele Boluwaji: Nigeria international, Leon Balogun, has described his team, FSV Mainz’s 1-1 home draw with Wolfsburg in the German Bundesliga on Friday as an unwanted result, but says the team will keep fighting to avoid relegation, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Super Eagles’ defender who made his tenth league start of the season in the game wrote on his Twitter handle that the result was not what the team planned to achieve, but admitted it was better than losing the three points.
“Definitely not the result we wanted, but one point’s still better than none,” Balogun tweeted.
Bologun who is one of the defenders expected to make Nigeria’s squad to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, added that despite the result, Mainz team will keep fighting.
“On to the next one, we keep on going, we keep on fighting,” he stated.
Meanwhile, FSV Mainz are in the 15th position in the Bundesliga table with 24 points from 24 games, just one point above the relegation playoff zone.
Mainz 05 will host Schalke 04 on March 9 in their next Bundesliga game.
