Akwa United coach, Zachary Baraje, says the club must add more quality players to their squad if they want to make an impact in the CAF Confederation Cup next season, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Promise Keepers will make their debut in the competition after lifting Nigeria's Federation Cup last Sunday.
The veteran tactician who also expressed disappointment with the club's inability to hold on to their key players said they must improve the quality of their playing personnel to compete well against the top sides on the continent.
"Playing on the continent is no child's play and we must bring in more quality players if we want to challenge for the title," Baraje told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"I'm not happy with our status as a selling club. If we want to do well next season, we must also keep hold of our best players.
"That is the only way we can do better both at home and on the continent."
The Uyo-based side have in the past sold two of their best players, Mfon Udoh and Ezekiel Bassey, to Enyimba.
There are fears their top stars like Aniekpeno Udoh, Abdulafeez Awakan, Namso and Yusuf Adio could also leave the club before the start of the new campaign.
