The much anticipated El Clasico clash between Real Madrid and Barcelona outside of Spain lived up to its billing at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Florida, USA in the early hours of Sunday (Nigerian time) in an International Champions Cup clash as the Copa Del Rey winners, Barcelona triumphed over the Spanish and European champions 3-2.

Barcelona were then awarded the trophy as winners of the International Champions Cup in the USA after claiming nine points from their mstches. Real Madrid only had one.

Lionel Messi,  Ivan Rakitic and Gerard Pique (Barcelona); Mateo Kovaciv and Marcos Asensio (Real Madrid) were on target for either sides.

Messi got the Blaugrana in front early in the third minute of the game. The former World Footballer of the Year winner hit a shot and the ball deflected off Rafael Varane and found its way into Madrid's net.

The duo of Neymar and Louis Suarez combined beautifully and the latter assisted Ivan Rakitic whose shot hit the bottom corner four minutes later.

Kovacic pulled a goal back for Madrid in the 14th minute when he evaded a tackle and cooly picked his spot to hand the Spanish champions a lifeline.

Neymar and Danny Carvajal were involved in an altercation as the 'Most Wanted' Brazilian, Neymar, latched out on fellow countryman Casemiro.

Marco Asensio then restored parity nine minutes before the break with an assured finish after a counter attacking move.

Pique restored Barca's lead five minutes into the second half with Neymar who has been involved twice in a flash point with Carvajal providing the assist. Neymar was however replaced by Arda Turan in the 73rd minute.

The game ended 3-2 in favour of Barcelona despite end-to-end efforts from both sides.
