Former England international and Liverpool legend, John Barnes, has described Alex Iwobi's own goal in Arsenal's 2-2 home draw against Paris Saint-Germain in Wednesday's UEFA Champions League matchday-five tie as unfortunate, Competesportsnigeria.com reports.
With Arsenal leading 2-1 and 13 minutes left on the game, Iwobi turned in Lucas Moura's header from a corner into his own net to bring PSG back into the game.
He was immediately replaced with Granit Xhaka.
Speaking as an analyst on a cable television station, Barnes pointed out what led to Iwobi conceding the own goal.
"Iwobi is on the line, so his job is to stand on the post and defend on the line, but he had react late," Barnes said.
"If you're alive when the header comes in, you get the header away from goal. But if you didn't expect the header, you will just put your head in there and concede. It's just unfortunate," Barnes lamented.
With the draw, Arsenal are now second behind PSG who go top because of their head-to-head over the Gunners.
