Cote d'Ivoire thrashed Ghana 5-0 in a dominant display in the first game of Group A of the 2016 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations at the Eko Atlantic Beach Lagos on Tuesday night, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Ivorians made their intentions known from the start as they went in search of the first goal in the first period, but were denied by poor finishing and good goalkeeping by the Ghanaian keeper.
But in the last seconds of the first period, Cote d'Ivoire eventually found the breakthrough, scoring two quick goals to end the period 2-0.
In the second period, the Ghanians tried to get back into the game but couldn't go past a resolute Cote d'Ivoire defence.
After weathering the storm from Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire scored their third goal.
And in the final period, Cote d'Ivoire added two more goals to end the tie 5-0
