Belgian club, KAA Gent, have listed Nigerian trio; Anderson Esiti, Samuel Kalu and Taiwo Awoniyi in their 20-man squad for today’s (Friday) Jupiler League opening day clash against Standard Liege at the Stade Maurice Dufrasme, Liege Luik, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
There was however no place in the squad for Moses Simon who according to reports has suffered a relapse of the injury that kept him out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Esiti, 24, made 26 league appearances for Gent last season, while 20- year-old forward, Kalu hit the back of the net seven times in 32 league games for the club.
Awoniyi, 20, who is on loan at the club from English Premier League club, Liverpool, spent last season on loan at another Belgian club, Royal Mouscron.
He made 27 league appearances for Mouscron and scored seven times.
Yves Vanderhaege’s men finished in fourth position in the league last season.
