Super Eagles fringe player, Benjamin Francis, who recently moved to Hapoel Tel Aviv of Israel from Heartland FC of Owerri, says his dream is to play in the UEFA Champions League with his new club.
“First of all, playing my way into the first team and help push for a place on the European continent is my priority and I wouldn’t also mind playing in the Champions League. Initially, they were talks of a loan deal, later Hapoel wanted me outright but at the end, they settled with Heartland for a year loan,” says the Eagles fringe player.
Speaking on his Super Eagles dream, he said he would work hard to earn a place in the team before the 2015 African Cup of Nations in Morocco.
“I will say I am here to improve on myself and play my way into becoming a regular in the Super Eagles, something I couldn’t do as a home-based player not because I am based at home because Coach Keshi rates all of us equally, but those in competition with me were better. I am here to be the best for Nigeria at left full back.
“I Am only human and I was disappointed to have missed out especially after Elderson got injured, but I consoled myself because the same coach that gave me my breakthrough is still in the national team and he must have a strong reason for leaving me out, but I must confess it was hard on me”, he says of his omission from the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
