By James Agberebi: Bolton Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson has stated that Nigerian forward Sammy Ameobi could once again be the star man when they host an in-form Fulham in Saturday’s Championship clash.
Ameobi was the hero for Bolton in their 1-0 home win against Bristol City last Friday.
Up next for the Trotters is a big clash against Fulham who have won their last five league games and are currently sixth with 51 points in the 24-team league table. Bolton are 20th on 29 points.
“Sessegnon is a great talent,” Parkinson told The Bolton News. “But I have to say, I think Sammy did great against him down at Craven Cottage. He rose to the challenge playing against a player the country has been talking about.
“Sammy wants to make sure they are talking about him after the game – as they did on Friday night against Bristol City.
“I think he has improved such a lot, physically. We brought him off in that game because he was shattered, he’d physically cramped up. But we look at him now and did some physical work ahead of the Bristol game and he was right at the front of it.
“I think he’s in the best shape of his career, and I think you could ask him that, and the goal typified that.”
