Burnley Unlikely To Spend In January – Dyche

Sean Dyche doesn’t expect an influx of signings at Burnley in January following Mike Rigg’s appointment as technical director. Rigg, who has previously held roles with Manchester City, QPR and Blackburn, will start his new job on December 1 with the January transfer window high on the agenda.

Some believe a lack of arrivals over the summer has left Burnley short this term as they attempted to cope with a European campaign alongside their domestic commitments.

Dyche was hugely frustrated by the business he was able to do in the summer, with only Ben Gibson, Matej Vydra and Joe Hart coming in, but he knows Rigg will not be able to work miracles.

The Clarets boss said: “Mike Rigg’s coming in, he’ll give us a new thinking, a new set of eyes and adding to the thought process on players. “Everyone knows January’s a really tough window so, to make it clear, we’re not looking for Mike to come in and miraculously hand over seven players. “We’re looking for a bigger picture process to add to what we try to do on the recruitment side. There’s certain people we’re interested in but we’ll have to wait and see.”
