CAF To Assist Nigeria, Other Africa World Cup Reps With $500k Each

The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) have agreed to offer a financial assistance of $500,000 each to the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the quartet of Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco and Senegal ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

CAF made the announcement on their official website on Friday.

The decision to offer the five African representatives to next year’s World Cup, which will serve as assistance to the countries, was taken during CAF’s Executive Committee meeting held in Rabat, Morocco on November 16, 2017.

A statement on CAF’s website reads: “At its last meeting held on 16 November 2017 in Rabat, Morocco, the CAF Executive Committee decided to set up an ad hoc committee chaired by the CAF 1st Vice President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, to map out a kind of support to be provided to African representatives to the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018.

“The committee, which has the Confederation of Africa Football Executive Committee member Kalusha Bwalya and presidents of the Football Associations of the five qualified countries as members, met in Moscow, Russia, on the sidelines of the draw for the FIFA World Cup scheduled for 1 December 2017.

“At the meeting, it was decided that the Confederation of Africa Football will grant a financial subsidy of $500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand dollars) to each of the five African teams. The financial package will be used mainly to strengthen and improve the technical supervision of each team.

” In addition, CAF will provide each African representative with “fieldwiz” equipment, a technological device and physical performance measuring tool for outdoor team sports players.”

The draws for next year’s World Cup will hold today (Friday) at the Kremlin in Moscow, Russia from 4pm Nigerian time.

  • CAF under the leadership of the new President Ahmad Ahmad has been taken good decisions, the recent one is postponing the AFCON qualifying matches to September from march in order to allow the world cup teams to play friendly matches to prepare them for the tournament. And now given them financial assistance shows that the new management team is supportive and thinking right. Kudos to them

    CAF WE ARE BEHIND YOU

  • Does anyone know that it is Amaju Pinnick that is the brain behind all these fast pace in the CAF and FIFA body? Does the EFCC know that past NFF board have been collecting money in 100s of millions from the sport ministry that they want to go to World Cup whereas the expenses for the World Cup is FIFA’s responsibility. This Amaju Pinnick board has exposed all this. EFCC do your work. Look money for Eagles.
