Super Eagles and Chelsea star Victor Moses has been surprisingly left out of the final three-man shortlist for the CAF African Player of the Year award as Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, Senegal’s Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon made the final cut.
The final shortlist, selected from an initial list of 30, was unveiled on Monday at the Movenpick Hotel, Accra, Ghana.
Salah beat Moses, Mane and Aubameyang to the BBC version of the award.
Super Eagles head coach Gernot was however nominated in the final three-man shortlist for the Coach of the Year and will slug it with Argentine and Egypt’s coach Hector Cuper and Wydad Casablanca’s L’Hussein Amoutta.
Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala made the Women’s Player of the Year final shortlist and will contend with South Africa’s Chrestina Kgatlana and Cameroon’s Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene.
For the Men’s National Team of the Year nominees, Super Eagles of Nigeria, African champions Cameroon and Egypt made the final list.
And for the Women’s National Team of the Year, Nigeria’s Falconets (U-20 team) were nominated alongside Ghana’s U-20 team and Banyana Banyana.
Meanwhile, the Club of the Year nominees include Al Ahly pof Egypt, TP Mazembe of DR Congo and Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca and the nominees for the Youth Player of the Year are Kreptin Diatta of Patson Daka of Zambia and Salam Giddou of Mali.
The winners will be announced in January in Accra, Ghana.
