Akwa United’s Gabriel Okechukwu and Ifeanyi Ifeanyi are confident the Promise Keepers can overturn the 2-0 first-leg deficit when they host Al Hilal of Sudan in Wednesday’s CAF Confederation play-offs second leg clash at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Home Eagles players were both in action in the first leg 10 days ago when they lost away but they reckoned in seperate interviews that home support and the quality in the team will see them go through at the expense of the Sudanese side.
“We need to score early to stand a chance,” Okechukwu told CSN.
“We know what is at stake and we hope we bury every chance we create. The fans too have a role to play in this game like they did for us when we beat Al Ittihad Tripoli from Libya.”
Ifeanyi who recently regained full fitness after an injury layoff added: “We have to be ready for their antics. They are very good at time wasting and could play on the counter-attack. But I believe that the support of the fans will help us.”
The overall winners of this tie will qualify for the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The draw for the group stages will be held on Friday.
