CAFCC: Plateau United Knocked Out By Algeria’s USM Alger

By Adeboye Amosu:                                                                                                                                                                                                        Nigerian champions Plateau United missed out on a place in the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup  following a 4-0 defeat against USM Alger in the second leg of their play-off round fixture at the Stade 5 Juillet on Tuesday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

The Jos club who won the first leg 2-1 lost out 5-2 on aggregate.

Kennedy Boboye’s charges stood firm against early pressure from the hosts but went behind in the 29th minute with Kaddour Beldjlali nodding home from a corner kick.

The home team wasted a number of chances with Plateau United goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye impressing again.

Ajiboye was however unable to prevent Oussama Darlafou who scored USM’s only goal in the first leg from scoring another header four minutes before the break.

Darlafou got the Red and Black third and his second of the game from another header  five minutes after the  break.

With the visitors resigned to fate following a disjointed performance, Mokhtar Benkhermassa added the third late on.

The three other Nigerians still left in the competition Enyimba, MFM and Akwa United will be in action on Wednesday.

We expect nothing from Nigeria sports and economy at the moment so no heartbreak. The duo of Akwa and MFM will join plateau United home. Only Eyimba will scale through. This is the result of corrupt and poor system

  • Chima E Samuels 7 months ago

LMAO I laugh enter soup guy ” Win all your home matches and bargain some draw away” Crazy corrupt nuts football is strictly another ground of opportunity to promote corruption in the country instead of opportunity for the talented

  • U see…some people still want home base players in super eagles, I wonder wat they r going to world cup to play.

Why are we so quick to scandalously rain abuses on out nation when things don’t go well.
Come to think about it … Corruption is everywhere, guys !!!
    THERE IS NO CLEAN NATION….NONE!!!

But some wise and thoughtful thinking nations will always want to wash their dirty linens inside their hidden laundry room !!!

Instead of making your motherland look bad to the entire globe, why not provide a solution !!!
Suggest something you observe and believe that will help improve the process!!

My uncle use to say that a youth that says something bad about his father’s house instead of providing solution to make his father’s house better…..is evil and a vagabond !!!

Does this result from Algeria surprise anyone? The NPFL is truly of very low quality, and we must stop clamouring for home-based players to graduate to the Super Eagles without merit, without passing any exams.

  • Complete Sports, please add an EDIT button, as well as LIKES and DISLIKES. Thank you. 3rd paragraph up there is @Prince, and 3rd sentence in the 2nd to the last paragraph was meant to read: “The best legs will keep leaving the country…”

This nation is ours to keep and to cherish and to mould into greatness !!

If you feel you have given too much suggestions and provided so much fruitful solutions to national prosperity and growth yet no one listened or took note…then be calm and let your peace be!!

I will always get respect and encouragement to anyone that stood out to represent me in a just course !!!
Most especially in a filed of endeavour of which I can not participate or get involved !!

Someone strived in his chosen Career to go to war and represent your home, your nation … And some of us lack the zeal to simply encourage them and mortivate them to perform better in their future efforts !
Instead, it is all insults and negativities !!

Maybe one day, Oyibo go come back mad begin rule una again…maybe that will be better !!!

    Ok na

I have always learnt something in life..
Even if a man is not the best at that particular task….encouragment and support will make him better !!!

As valid as your points on corruption are, i think you were too harsh in ur criticism of the local players and league. Like you rightly said, our league is still immature, still evolving, and i think it is getting better. It is poor economic conditions that make players run abroad to earn hard currency. But those at home are fighting hard. It will get better i believe especially if the government gets better.

Making Nigetia look bad to the outside world is not the best solution to our problems !!!
This is because Nigeria as a nation is so innocent and full of divine glory and she didnot merit such a negative tag from her very own citizenry !!!!

I believe there is no one  in this forum is below the age of 17!
So why did I bring in such an age limit ?

    – if you feel that your elected leader is not meeting up with your expectations ;
    i. Use your civic right and vote him or her out of power and vote in someone you believe will lead your expectation to a greater height
ii. …or better still, apply and contest yourself for the position and lead

    – if you feel a certain coach is not giving out the best to a certain team that you follow and love as a fan; go get a coaching badge and apply for that team!!!

    – if you believe that “Hell”‘is so miserable for the unfortunate that are there, stand up and wrestle the “devil” out of the throne … And make that “HELL” a better place !!!
