One of Nigeria's representatives in the CAF Champions League, Rivers United, departed the shores of the country on Thursday for Mali, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The ‘Pride of Rivers’ will be guests of AS Real Bamako on Saturday at the Stade Omnisports Modibo Keïta, Bamako in the first leg of their preliminary round clash of the CAF Champions League.
According to the club's official website, the contingent comprising 20 players and 13 officials left the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos at exactly 9.40am and will arrive at Houphouet Boigny International Airport, Abidjan at 10.20am Nigerian time before connecting another flight to their final destination, Bamako.
They are expected to arrive at the Bamako Senou International Airport at 2pm Nigerian time.
Technical manager of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma has assured that the team will not diasppoint when they take on AS Real Bamako on Saturday.
"They boys have worked hard. We know what is expected of us and we will give it our best to try to make the second leg in Nigeria a formality in a week’s time,” Eguma told www.riversunitedfc.com.ng.
