Cameroon Coach, Brian: We Are Out For Revenge Against Super Falcons

By Adeboye Amosu:
Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon head coach, Joseph Brian insists his team will be on a revenge mission when they face defending champions, the Super Falcons of Nigeria in their Tuesday’s semi-final clash at the the ongoing 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON) at the Accra Sports Stadium, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Cameroon, hosts of the last Africa Women’s Nations Cup were denied the chance of winning her first title two years ago, following a 1-0 defeat to the Super Falcons in the final.

The Cameroonians also lost to the Super Falcons in the final of the 2014 edition hosted by South Africa.

But Brian has declared that his team is determined to stop the Nigerian ladies from progressing further in the tournament this time around.

“We are out for revenge. In 2014 and 2016 we weren’t good enough. Everyone knows Nigeria have beaten us a lot over the years, but we are prepared for them now,” Brian said during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

“We are focused on what we want to achieve that’s why we are here. We have been playing in Accra but in terms of our preparation we don’t change anything because it’s Nigeria.

“I wasn’t the coach when we lost the final in 2016 but I was in Cameroon. Now we have players who understand the game, who’ve learnt a lot. “We’ll make sure that we correct the past mistakes going into this battle to make sure that we do something extraordinary.”

“Everyone know Nigeria is a force to be reckoned with in women’s football in Africa and have won 9 times against us but one day things could change. We won’t allow our problems with bonuses to affect us. Our motivation as good citizens is to do our job and not wait for d government.”

Cameroon finished top of Group A with seven points ahead of Mali, hosts Ghana and Algeria to seal a spot in the semi-finals.

The winner of the match is guaranteed a place in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

Man, no way. We will beat you again and we will always beat you. We want to make it 10 times this time. You playing us away from your home, Nigeria will beat Cameroon women 4. zero. Mark my words.

Hmmm….. let’s wait and see coach. The coach before you boasted than this but Falcons humbled his team in front of their President and his wife and including their home fans.

This time around, Ordega and the rest of the team believed that it was an embarrassment to Super Falcons and Nigeria that Falcons were beaten by Bayana Bayana in their first match of the tournament and after the match, they started playing the game of their lives in Ghana and they have spoken, saying that by God’s grace, winning the tournament is not negotiable. Anything less than that is a failure. This is a good spirit. In fact, I’m really impressed. Falcons are ready. They want to go to the world cup in France. They want to make history by winning the tournament in Cameroon and in Ghana. However, after the match when you would be preparing for the third place then, we would like to hear from you again coach but for now, talk is cheap coach.

This game against Cameroon won’t be an easy one but the experience of Falcons would be count on and with prayer all things are possible. May God be on our side and helping us to win the tournament. Amen. Good luck Super Falcons. God bless Nigeria!!!

Yes O! Sir Omo9ja. So so bang on the money! Your points hit home like a basket ball smashing into the basket.
Yes, our women have responded well to that defeat against South Africa with the right attitude, spirit and mentality.
I don’t see the Cameroonian ladies overcoming our ladies because they are not only playing against our ladies physically, they are also going to play against them mentally and I really believe that our ladies will prevail hands down.
Hip hip hip Super Falcons hoorah!

  • Customer Dada in.

  • Mr Coach, it seems you’re reading too much meaning into the defeat the almighty Super Falcons, the grand queens of African Soccer, suffered in the hands (or is feet) of South Africans. Wake up men, and listen: the SFs are unshakable and will trounce your team. The only point of uncertainty is the margin of victory. For one thing, if Cameroon wins it and stands a chance of going to France, they’ll disgrace Africa, just as they did when they came here to Australia for the Commonwealth Games and disappeared into the crowd. Thank God they were all fished out.

Uncle Achi, I associate myself with the totality of your comments above.
Our ladies are expected to trounce the Cameroonian ladies.

I won’t say anything, till after the match. This match will not be an easy one. Assisat oshoala should calm her nerves down n play her normal game not showboating. #istandwithfalcons

  • They even have bonus issues, unlike our Queens whose camp is brimming with confidence and adequate provision. No matter how you pretend, the non payment of bonuses will always affect the mental disposition of the Cameroonians in the field of play. The mentality of our Queens is that of a champion and that will give them age over the central Africa ladies.
