Cameroun Coach Rebuilds With New Generation Players

Ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2015 qualifiers’ opener against DR Congo today, Cameroon’s head coach Volker Finke says it is now time to look forward for the Indomitable Lions.

Following two back-to-back disastrous World Cup campaigns and a no show at the Africa Cup of Nations’ two previous finals, the German has decided to leave behind several historical figures of the national team including charismatic skipper Samuel Eto’o, who has since announced his international retirement.

And Finke is now set to lead the Lions into a new era.

“It is a new start for the Lions. As I have already told the media, we are left with no other choice. After two World Cup’s failures like Cameroon had, things need to change,” he said in a press conference on Wednesday.

“We have now a new generation of players. It is football. At one point, we need to make a clean sweep. There is no more time to look for problems. We need to stop crying over spilt milk in order to move forward.”
