Sergio Aguero saved Manchester City’s blushes on Tuesday night by scoring a 92nd-minute winner to rescue a 2-1 victory for the Premier League leaders in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against a Bristol City side at the Etihad Stadium.
Kevin De Bruyne scored Manchester City’s other goal while Bobby Reid scored for Bristol City who had knocked Manchester United out in the quarter-finals.
Reid ensured Bristol City were rewarded for an impressive first-half display by scoring the opening goal from the penalty spot just before half-time.
De Bruyne equalised for Manchester City 10 minutes into the second half, before Aguero bagged the winner in the second minute of injury time to hand Man City the slender advantage heading into the second leg at Ashton Gate in two weeks’ time.
The other semi-final is between Chelsea and Arsenal with the first leg taking place on Wednesday.
