Celtic boss Ronny Deila has played down speculation surrounding defender Efe Ambrose and striker Olarenwaju Kayode.
With the transfer window now open, speculation is rife over where Celtic will look to strengthen as manager Ronny Deila looks to build on Monday night’s 2-0 win at Kilmarnock.
A number of centre backs, central midfielders and striker have been linked with the club, including Maccabi Netanya’s Olarenwaju Kayode.
The 21-year-old Nigerian was interesting Celtic according to his agent Dudu Dahan, who has helped Celtic sign the likes of Efe Ambrose, Rami Gershon, Beram Kayal and Nir Bitton in recent years.
Reports on Sunday suggested that Maccabi Netanya were willing to sell Kayode for just £300,000 in a bid to raise funds, yet Deila says that not only are Celtic not interested in the player, but that he’s not looking to add another striker this month.
“That’s news to me. We are not looking so much in that area (up front),” said Deila, whose Celtic side have recently been linked with forwards such as Eoin Doyle and Nadir Ciftci.
One of the aforementioned players has been linked with a move away from Celtic Park, with defender Ambrose a reported target for Premier League sides Leicester City and Queens Park Rangers.
However, Deila says that he has heard no interest from any clubs, saying: “That’s news to me,” he said. “There’s nothing concrete. Nothing has come to us about that.”
