Go Round FC produced a fine performance to beat Heartland 2-1 in the final of the Bet9ja Nigeria National League Super Four competition at the Agege Stadium on Tuesday, Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN) reports.
Winger Solomon Nwachukwu grabbed a brace for the Omoku club in the highly entertaining encounter, while Lucky Emariojake netted Heartland’s only goal
Nwachukwu put Go Round ahead in the third minute following a goal mouth scramble.
Heartland took control of the game after the early setback and nearly equalised seven minutes later but Emariojake wasted the opportunity.
Emariojake atoned for the miss in the 27th minute when he fired home a sublime free kick from the edge of the box.
The forward was however replaced by Nduke Okoro in the 31st minute due to injury.
Go Round regained the lead in the 33rd minute with Nwachukwu latching on to a through ball from the midfield and expertly slotting the ball past Utodo Japhet.
Heartland had another opportunity to draw level four minutes before the break but Momoh Francis blazed his freekick wide.
Go Round looked re-energised after the break and carved out two good chances in the opening minutes.
Nwachukwu sent a dangerous cross into the box but Worley Stanley’s header went inches wide with the goalkeeper well beaten.
A minute later, Utobo had to be at alert to palm away Ngonna Ezenwaka’s goal-bound shot.
Utobo produced another fine save in the 62th minute to prevent Worley’s header from going into the net.
Substitute Nwosu Onuchukwu came close to grabbing the equalising goal for Heartland 14 minutes from time but his deflected shot was saved by Stanley Nwabali.
