Champions League: Efe Sees Red, Enyeama Benched

Nigeria defender Efe Ambrose was sent off in the 44th minute as Celtic lost 4-1 in their Champions League first leg third qualifying round clash against Legia Warszawa in Poland.

The Super Eagles star received his marching orders after he brought down Michal Kucharczyk who was clear on goal at the edge of the box.

Callum McGregor gave the Scottish champions the lead in the eighth minute before Miroslav Radovic’s first half brace cancelled out his strike.

In Zurich, Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama was an unused substitute for Lille who defeated hosts Grasshoppers 2-0 at the Letzigrund stadium.

The former Maccabi Tel Aviv shot-stopper only rejoined the squad on Saturday. Cote d’Ivoire forward Salomon Kalou was also on the bench.

Nosa Igiebor was handed a starter’s shirt in Maccabi Tel Aviv’s lone goal defeat away to Maribor. It was his first game since completing his move to the Isreali club. The former Real Betis midfielder was replaced in the 58th minute of the defeat by Dan Einbinder.
