By Adeboye Amosu: Ikechukwu Ezenwa is delighted to have scooped the Man Of The Match (MOTM) award in the Home Eagles’ 2-1 quarter-final win against Angola at the 18 African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Sunday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN).
The home-based Super Eagles captain believes that his sterling performance in the game has put him in a good stead to claim a spot in Nigeria’s squad to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia,
Ezenwa dazzled in front of Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr, who was in attendance at the Stade Adrar, Agadir, with a number of key saves to help his side win the game.
He was duly named the best player of the game that needed an extra time for the winner to emerge.
“I have to thank the team, especially the coach, who was very calm in the technical area pushing the team and believing that we will get the win.” the Enyimba goalkeeper stated after the game.
“The performance was great because we continued to push and tried to get the goal after going down and we did just that in the last minute.
“I’m happy with my performance and having Gernot Rohr here watching, I believe that will help me with the senior national team.”
The Home Eagles will face Sudan in the semi-final on Wednesday in Marrakech
