CHAN: Home Eagles To Arrive From Morocco On Tuesday

By Johnny Edward: The Home Eagles of Nigeria will arrive in Lagos in the early hours of Tuesday from Morocco after losing 4-0 to the hosts in Sunday’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) final in Casablanca, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The team, CSN gathered, will depart Casablanca airport 12 midnight on Monday aboard Air Maroc.

Nigeria reached their first CHAN final on Sunday, surpassing the third-place finish they achieved in 2014.

But hosts Morocco were in devastating form in what was also their own first final, thrashing a 10-man Nigeria team 4-0.

A brace from Zakaria Hadraf and goals from Walid El Karti and the tournament top scorer, Ayoub El Kaabi secured the title for Morocco on Sunday.

  • I have being the lone voice trying my best to rally support for and behind the CHAN Eagles. Except for Alhaji Atiku Abubakkar who console the boys for losing the match (I no think say him dey play politics here o), all others have either abused, rain heavy castigation on them and express an outright disappointment at the performance of the boys without even considering how it all happened. Their concern is win or lose gallantly. What is that!! With my little explanations I hope some might be having an open minded reevaluation of the vs Morocco match as temper has cold down and see that the boys deserve commendations and not condemnations. As they return tomorrow, may all appreciative Eagles fan stop all this abuses and condemnations and give them a rousing welcome. They went there to represent Nigeria and Nigerians. They win, we win, they fail we fail. We are all in this together. But the way I see it, they did not fail. We should all rejoice with them coming out 2nd best out of 54 teams or countries that started the journey. They are even coming with $750k (N270,000,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!) That is success, my dear forumites. Plus discovering an able and capable goalkeeper to assist Ezenwa. At least our fears for that goalkeeping department measured in terms with Hypertension (high blood pressure) has been radically lowered. It was 180/120mmHg. We were expecting Stroke but it is now a manageable reading of 130/70mmHg!!! after discovering that goalkeeper. What more, after the trophy, do we need. Welcome boys!!!!

It was a wonderful experience for the players though the result was not expected but in all we thank God for the 2nd Position because some great countries like Cameroon,Zambia and Others could not get to the quarter finals stage but Eagles got medal plus cash etc .Well-done guys .I wish you team a smooth journey back home .

Well, our local league is horrible. So the boys even tried by getting to the finals. I think the coach did not know how to plug the holes after the red card. Next time NFF should look at the technical competence of the coach that will lead them.

  • The elders say: It is not a crime to fall down, but it is unacceptable to lay there and refuse to get up.

We expected more, but you gave us a little less. Thank you. Welcome back. Let’s take stock of what happened and plan for the future.

In football , you either win or lose and learn from it but in this case , the players and coach never learned .The same margin they lost to Ghana at the finals of WAFU cup is still the same margin they lost to Morocco. The lost is avoidable with a good sections and coach .Who ever tells me that Okpotu is our best striker in our league must be joking and that shows we have a long way to go with in our league .All in all we lost scandalously , which is not acceptable to a great football playing nation like Nigeria .A better tactics could have given us a better result .Well they are welcome but sad we lost the finals the way we did!!!
